Left a cool Cambridge at 1015am on 12/12/13, after dropping our car at the garage where it will morph into a new one by the time we return on the 25th January 2014! Our new Rohan roller bags were great and given my heavily plastered right hand, which disguised my broken finger, we coped well with the rigours of travelling to Heathrow on the train and tube.We flew from terminal 3 to Helsinki and continued with Finnair to Singapore, BA to Sydney and then had a dash to go through immigration and customs and re check with Air New Zealand for our flights to Queenstown via Christchurch. ( they couldn't check our luggage the whole way because the flights were over 24 hours away which I find amazing!) We finally arrived at our hotel in Queenstown for rest and recuperation at 1800 on Saturday 14/12/13. We were remarkably chipper if not a little tired. John snoozed while I showered and went to the pub opposite for a lovely coffee, which I drank while I waited for a takeaway pizza. At first pass - prices look a little expensive - more will be revealed when we head off to Lake Wanaka tomorrow and find a supermarket to stock up for our ten days in timeshare. We went to bed at 8.15pm and despite waking up a couple of times slept pretty well. Overall the trip was easy - my only problem came when I juggled my iPad getting onto the plane in Singapore and seemingly caught it on the tip, the only exposed bit, of my broken finger, this resulted in pain worse than when I broke it - 2 pandadol and ibuprofen later all was well. All the cabin crew were very helpful - amazing what a bit of plaster can elicit - when I finally take it off - maybe I will have to keep it for travelling only !!!
