There was torrential rain for most of the night and towards dawn the wind became noticeably stronger but with the promise of warm weather a few miles away (nearer the Pacific Coast) I put on three quarter trousers,a t shirt and sandals!
Despite needing my rain jacket to get to breakfast the air was cool but not cold so I didn't regret my choice of clothes.
Breakfast conversation was John sharing his top cleaning and washing tips with Jules and then the rest of the group - shopping bills will no doubt soon be cut and he will be on the Proctor and Gambles hit list for reducing their profits as fabric conditioner is replaced by white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda reduces the need for washing powder by half !
Today was a travelling day with stops for souvenirs at a large outlet and then a local woodcarver - John and I avoided any temptation and only bought a coffee!
We had two wildlife stops one to watch a group of mantled howler monkeys in a tree close to the road(a mother and baby feature in todays picture); and one to walk across a bridge to observe the American crocodiles beneath.....smaller than their African cousins and their snouts seemed longer and thinner.
Lunch was at a roadside buffet style restaurant - which meant we all got to be served quickly and we had time to go into Jaco to get a POPs( Costa Rican) ice cream sundae. There were lots of people about enjoying their holiday - Costa Ricans are not back at work until 7/1/13.
An hour and a half later we were sitting by the pool of our new hotel relaxing until supper @ 1830.
After looking at the rather pricey hotel menu 9 of us decided to walk down the road to find a more reasonably priced restaurant. Approximately 2 doors down we found one and albeit it took an age to get our food the quality was very good and no one had any complaints.
Back to the hotel and another early ish night beckoned.
