What a time I had in Paris!!
I have been to some beautiful places on this trip but Paris exceeds these by a mile. The feeling of walking down the lovely streets can only be described as amazing. Everywhere you look there is something breath taking. How can they have so many landmarks in one place?
The hostel I was staying at didn't appear to be anything special on arrival but as my stay continued it grew on me. The staff were so friendly, great location - an hours walk from everything you NEED to see - and my dorm partners were the best! One of my partners was also a snowboarder from Czech Republic who gave me some contacts in Austria for my stay. I was stoked.
On the first night I stayed on the 6th floor - I realise that doesn't sound too bad but there was no elevator and the stairs were STEEP! The next day I got randomly moved to the second floor which wasn't too bad. Less of a climb at least!
On the second day my new friend from Czech took me out on a day trip to explore the beautiful city. It was a glorious day with the sun shining so we decided to hire some bikes for the day so we could fit more in. Riding around the city was lovely. We saw so much that day and spent the whole day exploring but there was still so much I wanted to see.
Day three was pretty average weather wise. The day was spent in the lobby talking to fellow travellers about their experiences and gaining some ideas for my travels.
On the fourth day my Czech friend had to leave. The weather again was terrific and after Kamil had gone I set out again on the bike to see some of the places I wanted to see but hadn't had the chance to. I had lunch next to the Moulin Rouge and then got lost on my way home. I had no clue where I was but it was okay because you couldn't ask to be lost in a better city. You take a wrong turn and end up somewhere even more impressive than your original destination.
The next two days were okay weather but nothing special. I went out to explore for a couple of hours each day but didn't venture too far.
My short, six day visit to the most beautiful city I have ever seen was unbelievable. The French are stereotyped as stubborn, uptight snobs to westerns but this is far from what I experienced. They were friendly and even if they didn't speak English, they tried to help. It's just like they have so much time and go out of their way to help. I can't wait to go back!
