My trip has made its full circle, I'm back to where I started, Bangkok. It's feels like a long time ago, stepping off my plane into the sweaty heat of Asia but I'm on, quite literally, the homestretch. So that's it now, done and dusted, the curtain call, my travels are over. With so much to look forward to, I can't be too down about coming home, in fact, I'm quite excited. But Asia will, without a doubt, be sorely missed.
On reflection, for whatever my reasons where at the time, I can't believe I was in two minds about coming to SE Asia. Whether it's the people, the places, the climate or the food, I'm not sure but there's something about it that has had me gripped for the last three months. It was never going to be long enough, having looked into rearranging flights on more than one occasion would suggest that, but with the amount of time available and with so much to see, it's meant there hasn't a dull day. I haven't had a chance to sit still, not too much anyway, which has suited me well.
I've been to places that I never thought I'd go, I've seen things that I'd never thought I'd see and I've certainly eaten things that I never thought I'd eat. Along the way I've met some great people who have helped shape my travels and who I will remember for a long time. Unfortunately it's never as easy to keep in contact with everyone.
There's been bucket loads of sweat, a reasonable amount of blood but thankfully no tears- I've saved those for my first few weeks in the army. There have been stressful days and I've definitely had my fair share of hairy moments but on the whole, I've enjoyed some of my best days out here and I sincerely hope it's not too long before my return.
I'd like to dedicate this paragraph to you all for reading and putting up with my blogs. Literacy has never been a strong point of mine so I hope there hasn't been too much drivel for you to sift through. An even bigger thanks goes to all those who have taken time to leave a comment, it was always a nice surprise to see a message from the UK.
So on that note, in my final paragraph, I would like to dedicate this entire blog and all its entries to my Grandma; Betty Etheridge. Without her here, as my editor-in-chief, these blogs aren't half of what they could have been. I know I could have relied on her as a critique, for ideas and for some well-needed grammar and spellings. I really wished she had been here to read them, maybe it would have saved the 'Now, start from the beginning...' conversation, that I know we would have had on my return.
Thank you all once again, looking forward to a big catch up soon!
Asia, until next time, it's been a pleasure.
