Three weeks with Reef CI and I was starting to feel institutionalised, I didn't want to leave but my last week proved just as exciting as the first two, with amazing Eagle Rays, Nurse Sharks on every dive and an awesome Dolphin encounter. The end of diving Reef CI also marked the arrival of Liann and a whole new chapter in my travels.
Friday came and we returned to the mainland, I checked back into Amaya's and set about waiting for Liann; how else better to do that than with some more rum! Not knowing exactly when she was due because we were having communication issues. Every hour or so I walked up to the bus stop to greet her, but no show. On about my fifth attempt, as I walked up the road I spotted the weary traveller looking a little tired and overwhelmed by her long journey. She soon settled into the Caribbean way.
Saturday was spent back up at Big Falls, river tubing and relaxing with the Reef CI crew. For Sunday we had arranged to go on a bird spotting kayak trip. We spent about an hour slowly paddling through crab infested mangroves under fallen trees and into the Toledo Jungle where we walked around with the guide spotting hummingbirds in nests, wood creepers and a myriad of other exotic birds.
It was a nice couple of days and a great way to introduce Liann to Belize but it was time to move on. I really loved Belize and think I managed to get a good overall feel of the place in my five weeks. I saw some amazing sights and met lots of amazing people, most of whom I hope to see again in the future. Now the adventure continues on to Honduras a place that in comparison to Belize I know very little about. Wish us luck!
