Onze laatste stop in China is Nanning. Nanning heeft een aantal interessante dingen voor toeristen. Zo hebben ze een hele grote tuin met medicinale planten en het Guanxi provinciaal museum. En eigenlijk hadden we het plan om deze te bekijken....maar daar is dus niets van gekomen. In plaats daarvan hebben we ons prima vermaakt met rondlopen door deze moderne chinese stad. Dit keer geen toeristische restaurantjes of souvenierswinkeltjes die veel van hetzelfde verkopen. Nee, dit keer kijken we onze ogen uit naar de mensen tegenover het hostel die met de hand pannen maken, winkels vol zwenkwieltjes, lampions, rode dingen om het huis te versieren (erg chinese), de markt, een computercity, mooie houten badkuipen. Het klinkt misschien raar, maar na alle die toeristische plekjes, is het leuk om in een "gewone" stad te zijn. De mensen in Nanning zijn vriendelijk, ze spreken bijna geen engels, en wij slechts een beetje chinees, ik geloof dat ze ons daarom erg grappig vinden (maar misschien is het wel omdat we de enige toeristen zijn...).

Our last stop in China: Nanning. This city has a couple of interesting sights for tourists. They have a large botanical garden with medicinal plants and the Guanxi provincial museum. We did intend to go to both, but ended up doing something completely different: we just walked through the city. Nanning is a modern Chinese city, so no tourist restaurants, and endless souveniershops. This time we can see people make large steel pots right from our window. There are shops filled with thousands of cartwheels, red stuff to decorate your house with (typically chinese), a market, a small computercity, beautifull wooden bathtubs. I guess it sounds strange, but after all those tourist spots, we enjoy being in a city that is "normal". The people in Nanning are friendly, they hardly speak english, and we only speak a little chinese, I think that is why they think we are funny (or perhaps it is just because we are the only tourists...)
