Jo's Travels
Arrived in La Paz today, 30 Dec. Great journey from Peru to Bolivia by bus/boat. Probably some of the most beautiful scenery Ive ever seen. Lake Titicaca is the worlds highest navigable lake at over 3800m above sea level. Its just stunning, with deep blue water set against lovely mountains. Travelled down from Cusco (Peru) with 3 others (1 Brit, 1 Scot, 1 Holland). Got a room with 4 beds for 3 pounds 50 each in the centre of La Paz! We are looking forward to tomorrow night. Lots of Gringos here. Keep seeing faces I recognise.
My friend from Holland reckons it's good luck to wear red knickers on New Years Eve, so tomorrow we are on a mission to look for red knickers!
La Paz is in quite a setting. Its the highest capital in the world and straddles a huge valley. Great views at night.
31/12 New Years Eve. Great cafe next door to hotel where we all had an English breakfast - fried eggs, bacon, warm fresh bread, great coffee. What a start to the day. Had been craving bacon for a while. Been shopping. Left Ben to do his own thing and had a great girlie day. Bought a new outfit for tonight. Feels great after wearing the same clothes for 3 months! Bought new pair of sunglasses from market stall - UV protection zero but they look cool! Also bought the red knickers and then found nice cafe where we had cakes, smoothies and coffee and gossipped. The perfect girlie day!! The simple things in life are the best, and u definately appreciate them when you're travelling.
Hope you are all well and have a fantastic New Year. We've got vodka, kahlua, champagne in our hotel room which we will start on after we've had our siesta...
Love from Jo
