Jo's Travels
Arrived in Cusco on 8 Dec after great trip around Galapagos. Spent a few days getting used to the altitude. Being out of breath whilst doing nothing is a strange sensation!
Cusco is very pretty sourrounded by mountains and Inca ruins. Slightly annoying kids always trying to sell you something, from postcards, to paintings to finger puppets!
Inca Trail awesome! 4 days of trekking, camping, roughing it, culminating in the amazing Macchu Pichu (see picture).
Christmas Day in Cusco - we found a hostal with a kitchen and cooked a great Christmas dinner. I did a wicked gravy! The turkey was huge. There were 10 of us and half a turkey left. So, true to tradition, 4 of us had turkey sandwiches on Boxing Day and 27th!
10 hour train journey on 27th from Cusco to Puno. It went quickly though since great scenery and great company, munching turkey sandwiches, panetone and swigging kahlua!
Puno nothing great, but situated on Lake Titicaca. We stayed on one of the islands with a family who dressed us up in their traditional clothes and took us dancing! ok, a little contrived and touristy, but fun. Also visited floating islands made from reed. Their islands ended up in Bolivia after the El Niño storms!
Hope you all had a great Christmas.
Love
Jo
