Jono's Travels
Another long day of travel, but by now 5 hours actually doesn't seem that long, especially when we aren't the ones driving, today we head from Gallipoli to Istanbul. We will also get Conner and Imogen back today who will be flying back from Egypt. After a long day of driving we arrived in Istanbul. A very large city with officially about 14 million people living near in it, unofficially it's closer to 17 million. After arriving and checking into our hotel we headed off to a Turkish bathhouse for a bath and massage. Not knowing exactly what to expect all we really knew is we got washed and massaged, and that the guys and girls were separated. All of us guys stripped down and got a towel around us, apart from Tim who had chosen to put on some swimming shorts underneath. we headed into the bathing area and jumped into the steam room for about 15 minutes before being guided into the next room where they started to scrub us down and take the dead skin off us, apparently Ryan had a heap come off him. After a good scrubbing, we laid down on the warm marble where they then began to scrub us with soap and then begin to massage our legs, shoulders and arms. It was a little awkward as he massaged me when he whispered in my ear, "Did you like that?" After that we were done and relaxed in the pool for a while before heading back out and getting changed and waiting for the woman to arrive. The look on their faces as the woman came out told us there was a story to be told, but they didn't want to say anything while we were I the bath house. Essentially they got to see more of each other than they expected and some got to know the lady performing the massage a little more than they had hoped. We headed back to the hotel and then headed off to dinner, the restaurant was a colourful from the outside and full of lights inside. At dinner Conner and Imogen arrived back, it was a touching moment for Ryan seeing his bestie Conner turn up to dinner, a big man hug was required. We enjoyed dinner together before leaving for the restaurant and heading around the corner to a place where the guys could do some Shisha, I finished off my drink of Peach Ice tea and decided to head off and go for a walk on my own, I headed down to a park and took a look around, there were some nice fountains and the pro was pretty, apart from the amount of rubbish that was about. There were massively high walls around the entire park, not exactly sure why though, the walls were at least 5 meters high from what I could see. I then headed off into the town and took a look around the bay, it had a nice view looking at the bridges which were lit up by lights.
