Jono's Travels
Train from New York to Buffalo took 9 hours. When we got there it was pouring down! First impression of Buffalo... WHAT THE?? its a Hill Billy town, its really run down and we were the only white people walking around so it was a bit strange and I felt like a right target walking around with a massive backpack on but we got to the hostel safe and sound. The women who run the hostel was really friendly and told us how to get to the Niagara Falls and to the airport the next day. We were a bit worried about staying here because it’s a 12 bed dorm room! I thought it would look like an army barracks or something but it was fine, really friendly people in the room and they were really quiet too. We decided to get a bus to Niagara Falls the first night, we wanted to see it at night because they light it up, so we set off on the bus which takes an hour from buffalo. And on got a family of loud crack heads so the journey was fun! When we got to our stop it was in the middle of nowhere and we didn’t have a clue which way to go but we could see a casino in the distance so we headed to that it was still raining as well so we were quite soaked. When we got to the casino the Niagara national park was about a minute away so we headed off to that. When you get there you have two choices you can go to the USA side or the Canadian side we have both been told the Canadian side is better so we headed to the border crossing. We had to walk over the Rainbow Bridge which leads over to Canada and it gives you great views of the falls. When we got to the Customs bit Kristina got thru fine and then he asked me where my white form was (when you fly to the states you get a white form or green one stapled into your passport) and mine must of fell out! The Canadian side was fine they let me through but said that the USA customs might not be as easy and Kris might have to go back to the hostel to get the white form. So now we couldn’t relax so we went back. I was s***ting it thinking that Kris would have to get a taxi on her own an hour there an hour back and she still might not find the form and I would be stuck in Canada! Kris got thru customs fine again and the customs bloke asked me where my form was? I said what form?? And he didn’t like that!! He was fuming and said if I was stopped by the police and I didn’t have that form I would have been arrested! So I thought I was facing some time in an American jail, and then he said it would cost $6!! For a replacement. The way he said it, it was like the end of the world I spent more then $6 on the bus getting there so I got the replacement and panic over!! We woke up early the next day to get the bus to Niagara Falls and this time we didn’t have any problems so we saw it properly in the daylight and it really was amazing. When we were back in Buffalo we went for lunch in the Anchor bar (this place invented Buffalo wings) I had to order their specialty so I ordered the smallest portion which was 10!! While I was waiting I had a little look around the restaurant and saw this fat bloke with 2 plates full of Chicken wings he had about 80 what a legend! When my small portion came out instead of having 10 I had about 17!! but I got stuck in and ate them all, I didn’t want to look rude now did I!? But they were lovely and spicy too. The bill came to about 3.50 so you can’t go wrong with that.We had to get a flight from buffalo to Vegas but stop off in Chicago for an hour then direct to VegasSin City here we come
