NO MORE COMMUNISM!
It truly was a breath of fresh air to be back on some colonial soil! Everyone seems so much nicer and there is even toilets that you can actually sit on! Its the smaller luxuries in life that really count.
We arrived into Hong Kong at 11 in the morning and found our way to the hostel called Wang Fat! It was recommended by the Lonely Planet but was nothing like what we expected. It was in a high rise building that comprised of small flats that had turned the other rooms into dorms!
We were all crammed into a small room with beds from wall to wall. It was pretty tight to say the least. The first day we headed for the Temple street night market, which is something that I had visited with my mum and dad when we went to aus, it was nothing like what it was before. Probably because we were a little early and they were setting up
We then went to a english pub called the Stags Head which was showing the F1. The food was incredible, the first english food that I have had for weeks! I had cottage pie and it was truly immense!
The next day we headed off the Lantau Island to see a big Buddah! It was very impressive until we found out that it was built in 1992. So basically it is a tourist trap built by the monks so that people will pay to see it and fund the monastary. Also it was supposed to be golden but it was not, apparently it is only golden at night when the lights are shining on it!
This is where we left the Bolton boys. It was only a short trip to Hong Kong but all the same it was nice to be out of the communist areas of China
