Day 12 (Saturday 28th October 2006)
We're absolutely itching all over!!! Those jungle mozzies had it off with us yesterday and now we are really suffering!! Aunty Wendy, you better ship us out some more repellent!!!!
The morning was a bit cloudy and it rained on and off, but it did brighten up in the afternoon. Not put off, we had brekkie and kicked back on our beach...even when it's cloudy it's still bloody hot!
We snorkelled the reef...there's some massive coral out there - the viz was still pretty poor, but a bit better than before. We both watched a rather cute copperband butterflyfish munching on the rocks for a good 5-minutes, before Sarah's snorkel ended rather abrubtly following a scrape with a nasty bit of coral which punctured her foot...ouch! Nevertheless, on her way back to shore she did spot another large puffer, puffing its way around the reef. We wonder if it's just the same one, following us around Thailand...hmmm?
Around 3-weeks later, Marc returned looking like a prune, having watched a school of parrotfish chomping their way through the coral, amongst other fishy things. The noise these guys make when eating is deafening...worse than Sarah's dad eating his dinner, so she says!!
We went back to the Seaflower for lunch and Bob Marley made us some more lovely grub, while we chilled out on their cushion-come-mat things on the floor. When we returned to the beach we bumped in to our friends Rob and Oa and they invited us to join them for dinner.
We had enough time to relax and watch the sunset over Haad Yao, before getting spruced up for our meal. Our dinner was freshly prepared by Oa herself at her friend's restaurant, Big Mountain. We wolfed down our curries (yes Marc's loving the curries) before retiring back to Rob's resort to watch Wayne Rooney and the Man UTD boys tear Bolton apart...but not before Rob made us all sample a bit of vegetable sushi (Marc's not loving the vegetable sushies)...and proceeded to cough it all up over the balcony!! He is trying!
After the footy, with Marc sulking because Arsenal only drew, we made the short walk back to our bungalow along the beach in the moonlight.
Day 13 (Sunday 29th October)
This morning we had our first lie-in in 2-weeks. We continued our theropy after breakfast when we met Oa, ready and waiting with the massage oils at her Big Mountian massage parlour. She gave us both an hour long traditional Thai oil massage...boy they hurt!
All that exercise worked up an appetite, so when Rob came to meet the three of us with the jeep, we headed off for a bit of lunch at Aow Chaloklum. Rob took care of Sarah's pizza fix by taking us to a lovely Italian restaurant down by the beach. Whilst Marc was busy thanking the Italian owner in Spanish (muppet), again Rob picked up the bill...legand!!
Next it was off to the magnificant Paradise Falls, where we splashed around and bathed in the refreshing mountian pools. Our tour guide Oa then took us to visit her local Chinese temple. Despite breaking the wall, and leaking his dripping blood all over the temple, along with Sarah Marc did do his best to join in with the worshipping of the Buddha. We lit joststicks as an offering to the big fella as well as getting down on our knees to pray...for Marc this was no new expereince, he regulary worships his Buddha reflection in the mirror every morning!! It was a great experience, but by far the best bit was the huge, spectacular moth we found on the way out...perhaps he was a monk in a past life??
Before taking us home, Oa had some business to attend to at her friend John's jungle retreat. John is an Englishman who upped and moved here several years ago and owns the most beautiful place with serene views across the island. We could see oursleves swinging on a hammock outside our very own jungle retreat someday!
After saying our goodbyes (s*** now we have to spend our own money) we had a quick lounge around the pool before the arduous chore of packing our bags. Once packed we returned to the Village Green for our last meal in Ko Pha-ngan...Marc believe it or not racked up his fourth curry in five nights!!
It's been fun, but it's up bright and early in the morning for Ko Phi Phi...
PS Thanks to Rob and Oa...we'll miss you guys!
Melissa...sorry cuz, great to here from you...been meaning to add you to our contacts!!
Marc's Mum...tell that Enzo to get off the couch!!
Most importantly...hope the mighty Spartans did the business this morning!
Peace!
