Day 8/9 (Tuesday 24th/Wednesday 25th October 2006)
We had our breakfast and left our jungle bungalow at the San Sabay Resort around 10:00am...little did we know that we were about to endure a 27-hour journey from hell!!!
Our 27-hour nightmare journey:
10:00..left San Sabay Resort (Koh Chang)
10:30 - 11:00..ferry from Koh Chang to the mainland (Trat)
12:00 - 18:00..bus to Bangkok from Trat
19:00 - 06:00..bus to Surat Thani from Bangkok (no sleep thanks to the bloody Aussies having party on lower deck)
07:30..bus to the pier
09:00 - 12:30..boat ride from Surat Thani to Ko Pha-ngan (via Ko Samui)
12:45 - 1:00..taxi from Thong Sala pier to our Pha-ngan Cabana Resort
Arriving exhausted from the journey, the pleasant Capana Resort was a sight for sore eyes! The resort is a reversal of our jungle bungalow in Koh Chang; the huts are simple but the location is ideal - right on the beach!! However the snorkelling from our beach at Haad Yao (which is supposed to be out of this world) is poor and the weather here isn't great...I guess we'll appreciate things a bit more after some sleep.
Completely drained, we tried to stay awake as long as possible. That evening we took a walk up the road where we found the Village Green, owned by an English guy, and had a bite to eat, before heading back to our shack for a long-awaited kip...
