Another nice day and a visit to Stirling Castle was on the agenda. The camp site we stayed at last night had a fish pond with some rather nice fish in. A sign said fly fishing only and catch and release and the camp people had left fly rods on the banks of the pond but unfortunately there were no flies attached. sunshine again with rising temperatures. First up was a visit to Glamis Castle which was where the Queen. Mother grew up. A magnificent castle which has been owned by the same family for 23 generations. There was a tour of the castle available but we passed on that as it was an hour long and wasn't starting for a while. Our campsite last night was very quiet, tucked away in the trees at Speyside Centre which was another Britstop. This morning was laundry time and we found a laundrette in Aviemore just a few kms down the road. This morning was a rather sobering visit to Culloden near Inverness which is the place where the Battle of Culloden took place and this was the last hand to hand combat to occur on British Soil and was a battle for the Scottish Highlands. Well the midges beat us. Poor Charlie had a dreadful night, covered with bites and very unwell with it as well. Strange that he is the only one affected as Geoff was outside with him most of the time. Apparently it takes 24 hours for the itch to come and that lasts for 5 days - he is not a Happy chappie!
