It has been a wet old day from start to finish which we think is the first time that has happened during our entire trip! Not bad eh! We left our pretty little valley camp site and headed down to Carlisle. On the way we stopped off at Lockerbie which was the unfortunate site of a plane crash in 1988 after it was blown up by Libyan forces. Saturday morning and it was time to say goodbye to Edinburgh. We are all going in different directions for a while - Ryan back home via Dom and Bex, Mandy and Charlie off to the East Coast, Lidka and Leicester will stay around this area for a while to catch up with friends, and we head off down the west side to take in the sights and to say a final goodbye-for-now to family. Today was a much quieter day as we spent our last day in Edinburgh. The sun shone for the most part but just as we hit the city after lunch the heavens opened. Edinburgh is turning it on including the weather at the moment! Another fine sunny day and so after catching up with the washing we caught the bus into the city and got in amongst the huge crowds enjoying the Fringe Festival. Street theatre was everywhere with big crowds for some and just a few for others. It was a miserable old day as we headed off to Bannochburn on Wednesday morning. It didn't matter too much as most of the display was inside. The. Battle of Bannochburn took place on June 24th 1314 between Robert the Bruce from the Kingdom of Scotland and Edward ll from the kingdom of England.
