Day 11
We are going to the Maligne Canyon and Lake our third road trip but only 50k from where we are staying . The maligne Canyon has a series of bridges that they have make into a lovely hikers trail. We chose to start a the first bridge and work our to the fifth ,on the way taking some incredible photos of waterfalls rapids to calm still water. The canyon changes in width, from a few meters to many meters so I hope the photos show this. We got close to see a grizzle bear, so many cars no where to stop, police moving people on ,ask someone closer ,they told us yes it is a bear a grizzle, alas no visual.indi
Our next mission was to get to Maligne Lake, hear we are looking for the world renown Spirit Island. Our map tell us to just follow the road and it will be at the end and sure enough it was . To get to the Island we need to take a small boat a 35 minute trip up the lake but the beauty is once again hidden by a thick cover of bushfire smoke. The island is sacred to the indigenous and is right up the other end of the lake. There is an eerie feeling as this is one of their burial sites. No one is allow to go to the island as you can understand.
There are photos of Medicine Lake plus photos of tea last night with our Kiama Friends, Balty And Karen and for the most part we ate local product, Bison elk,
mussels and fish Tomorrow may be a rest day from the blog as it is moving Day again.
We are heading to Prince George by train. So again it goodbye and see you soon
Love you all
