Well it’s been 2 days since I made my last blog, oh that sounds familiar . The reason behind that we have been traveling by bus down the Mediterranean Sea so we hop on a boat and sail for 3 days.
Along the way we stop a few times, mainly the old fashion piss stop but there were some interesting places as well.
We left Cappadocia at 8am and headed to Konya . We stopped here to see the Mosque of Rumi, the father of whirling Dervishes and renowned for peaceful ideas on the change to the religious Islamic sect.
We move then to gateway to Turkey’s southern Mediterranean crown jewel Antalya. Here we found Hadrian’s gate , similar to the one we found in Athens, built in 130 A.D. and the 2nd century Hidirlik Tower. From here it was off to the Akra hotel. This was very classy hotel on the waterfront .
From Antalya we head for Kayakoy . Here there is a ghost town that was built in 1920 after the First World War it was built to house the Greeks and Turks displaced by the war but in the mid 1920s both countries agreed that because of the Baulken wars ,which was when the countries under ottoman rule revolted and all but broke that rein and the Turks were on the ottoman side the Greeks were opposed, that Greek go from Turkey and Turks would come home from Greece.
We are now only 1/2 hr from our final destination Fethiye. We are staying at out of town hotel the Blueberry Hotel, nice but not as good as the others we have been at so far.
Tomorrow we head to the gulet boats) , which are handcrafted from mahogany, pine and teak woods.
Well that is the catch up now tour really start again. You may have to wait for the next three blogs as there is no wifi on these boats we have been told. Shirley and I hope that you are all well and life is being good to you, so until the next blog arrives ,
Goodnight and remember you are always in our thoughts.
Love from John and Shirley
