We arrived in Kefalonia at 10:30 p.m. and there to meet us is the rent car guy.He is fabulous ,he goes through the contact for the hire, goes through some traffic rules that are different to ours then lead us to where we are staying over night.
We get here by 11ish and the owner and some guest are on for a chat. Shirley and I just want a bed ,it’s been a long day. Finally the owner escorts us to our room and it doesn’t take long and I’m asleep.
Up and ready for breakfast which was delivered to our room. It was pretty good . We take the key back say goodbye. Now the fun begins, driving. Shirley is the navigator and there is not one word of English to direct us .The car is an automatic ,this make is much easier so the dramas of Italy never got started . 40 minutes later we arrive at our new destination Sami . We find our hotel by fluke and it name is Athina. It is local right on the water and 3/4 of a kilometre from main town Sami.
We settle in and we off. We wander along the shoreline and we discover the best seafood restaurant. We decided to have grilled calamari and grilled prawns with a mixed salad. This was the special seafood meal we have looking for and we found in this small seashore restaurant. It was amazing ,I hope the photos show the quality.
Back to the hotel ,we have to waddle because we’re that full. Shirley goes to the pool and I listen to the East/ storm game, what a cracker. I then join Shirley, and we just chill out . We’re not that hungry so we decide to walk up an appetite, off to Sami central . It is the end of season and most of the restaurants are open but have very little clientele.
Another cocktail and a beer ( local) and some more people watching and we now feel like food . Beautifully cooked Calamari.
Time to head back, get some sleep and prepare to go driving to small places near by.
