Day 34. 4/10/2018
On the move to Rethymno.
Today is a moving day ,and we are to catch a bus to Rethymno at 10.30. The trip only an hour a half ,so that’s not to bad. We arrive on time ,now to find our hotel , our map is poor and the area is designed like a maze so all streets and lanes run everywhere and only few let you in. We had asked in a shop and they gave us some help but it wasn’t to we met a lady walking the streets to get out that we were able to get to our hotel Casavita. Beautiful ancient venison area small alley.way, no cars once your in centre and we find out that there four main streets that take you to the beach or the real shopping centre.
We settled in and now we are off to see what happens in this old town. It is a tourist town and most of the shops a gear for that purpose , and there are some that make genuine leather gear ,the smell is incredibly, there are Restaurant and it is one of them that Shirley has booked for us, the Raki Ba Ra^i for 7.00pm.
We return to the hotel a be weary ,Shirley’s been scratching from bites she is saying and we put some cream on from our last bite incident and somewhere both of us fell to sleep. I was showering ,getting ready for our dinner date when Shirley rushes in and her skin is covered in welts , that it , this time we are going to the hospital or to see a real doctor , not doctor google . The hotel person explains the quickest way to get to a taxi pick up point ,and while Shirley is getting dressed , I run just round the corner to cancel the dinner table, less than a minute and we off . We’ve decided the hospital is the right choice and we catch a taxi there, he was good but he also told us ,from where we were waiting it was just a five minute walk to the hospital. We go to emergency ,the doctor sees Shirley and says we need to go and get some treatment for it which was a couple of intravenous feeds of cortisone and antihistamine, straight away it started to ease, we now had to wait for 40 minutes to make sure it wouldn’t flare up again, we then just walked back to the Restruarant, but Shirley was told ,no fish, no nuts just for a day or two , and then Shirley told me she has an allergy to eggs and she has been eating them so she said no more for while.
I finally got to eat grilled Sardine and they were just as I thought they be , Shirley had chicken wings ,plus we had mushroom , cooked so they were crunchy on the outside but normal in the middle ,great starter , and of course hand made, like Mum use to make potato chips , all different sizes but great.
Shirley and I are tied so we heading for home , so for now, all is OK here, Shirley is fine, just tied from the the antihistamines .
Goodnight ,sleep tight and we’ll see you .
