Goodbye to Santorini
Today we say goodbye to Santorini, it been a blast. This is a blue island and there is plenty to do, it be the most affordable as well. Our check out time is 11.30 ,so we made plans to go to a well known Restaurant to have a fair well lunch. As we are still exploring we chose to walk there and on the way we pass a cellar door of a winery called Santos Wines, we pop in , and do a wine taste. Shirley chose white ,myself the reds, white pours the size of a normal party drink, the red the same. The wines were good but not as good as the tasting in the last blog. It now lunch time we now continue to the restaurant which is not that far away . We arrive on time if not a bit on the wobbly boot size of things from though huge tasting pours , and found what Shirley was hoping for, white egg plant and fried calamari and hot herb flavoured chips absolutely beautiful, sand yes a class of wine to carry on the tradition. There were great views here so photos were called for ,know time to head back to the Petit Palace to be taken to the ferry.
We arrive at the dock ,go and check in , told our ferry had been cancelled ,not happy Jane, fortunately they have booked us on another ferry which was cheaper, and that’s a good thing. We are siting have a beer and a sparking water when our cancelled ferry come into port, it wasn’t cancelled ,what had happened it had been commandeered for bulk tourist, bus loads of them. This happened when toured last year at the glacier, give me the Tom t*** , we have had our ferry booked for almost a year.
Finally we on the new ferry and head for Crete , these ferries are a crazy place when boarding and leaving. , people rush, they push to get on ,even though you have an allocated seat ,then do the same to get off.
The ferry pulls into the Crete port we are off and moving to our hotel which we can see ,Shirley has put us right in the perfect place again, so. We walk to the hotel maybe a kilometre and settle in. Shirley has already worked out what we’re doing tomorrow ,so for now that’s all for this blog .
