Day38 8/10/2018.
The last look a Crete and of Europe.
Today our plan is to take one look around Crete ,go to the beach ,maybe more shopping . We begin with a walk to a massage spa for Shirley as I’ve mention is a bit tight, can get in to 2.30pm, that’s ok. Our next idea was to find the beach which a woman Shirley and I were talking to ,told us it was a ten minute walk from the old town. Sure enough there it was , we paddled and sat in the sun, it was quite and always from the hustle and bustle of the popular beaches. It was wine o’clock so we thought we would try one of the real tourist eateries, silly us, was the worst meal we’ve had in Crete. We stroll around looking for a wine bar called Inoa. We find it and it is a small but popular place and the wine is of top quality , then we notice the food coming out , and the aroma of it , so we book for dinner. We head to the hotel as I’ve decided to go for a swim in the Mediterranean as I might not be here again and I’ll do this while Shirley is at her masseur.
The beach is not golden sand but more like a river sand which is fawn in colour , the sun is out , the water temp is 19-21 degree and lovely in. I walk the beach looking at the hotels along the road, they more mod than some in town, sun bake for a while ,then in for one last dip. I run the towel around my waist ,it look like a sarong, and the looks I got were amazing, but it was better than carrying it. I got back to the Spa just in time as Shirley was leaving and we walked back together , nanny nap time.
7 o’clock is the booking so we are off to Inoa with thought that this maybe something special on our last night in Crete, and were not let down . We order the wine Assertico , a bottle as it was cheaper then buying two glasses each , then ordered Grill King Prawns in garlic and butter, these are to die for , perfectly cooked. You are filled by the taste and aroma ,we share this . The next dish is a rib eyed steak recommended by a local sitting near us. I rate this, one of the best, I have had the pleasure to bite into. We ask asked for it to medium rare and this 30 mm piece of meat, was cooked to that consistency . Again we shared this and there was more than enough for both of us. Last but not least our dessert , a chocolate , hazelnut, cream cake, it must have been really good because I was fighting to get in for my share, when Shirley is eating it like there’s no tomorrow we’ve found a winner. With our bellies full and the wine gone we are heading home as we have and early morning, it has been a great end to our adventure , A Taste Of Europe.
We are done and it time to come home .Hope you have enjoyed the blog and thanks for all the comments it makes it all worth while.
