We left the River Beatrice this morning and checked into our hotel in Budapest. It is nice to have a bit more space than we had on board. Our room is about twice the size of the cabin.
This morning we headed out on foot to visit the Parliament Building on the banks of the Danube. When we arrived the queues quite long so we kept on walking. We plan to go back tomorrow. On our return walk we came across St. Stephen's Basilica, the largest church in Hungary. The church can hold 8000 people. The church is the venue for the concert we are attending later today.
After a short break and refuel we set off on public transport to visit the historic Castle Hill district of the city. The district contains many ruins of former fortifications and buildings, the site also includes St. Matthias' Church and Buda Castle. Castle Hill also offers some of the best views of the Danube River and on the far bank, the City of Pesh. We then returned to our hotel by foot. A lengthy journey but necessary given the amount of food and drinks consumed over the past week.
After a short break and clothing change we set of for dinner and our concert in the Basilica. The setting for the concert was superb and the musical performance was wonderful. We are both pleased that we had found this concert.
As always there are photo albums to support the day's activities.
