Where to start! The journey here was amazing, we flew with Emirates and although we were in economy with barely enough room to get your legs in they really look after you! On the leg to Dubai we had a wonderful meal of lamb curry and complimentary drinks. then we slept quite a lot as the 6 or so hour flight left at 9:00 pm but miraculously due to time zones and that we arrived at about 7:00 a.m. We had about two hours to explore the airport and look at all the amazing shops. Some 'well wisher' ( for want of another name) had told Mandy that gold was cheap in Dubai so we looked at all the gold shops but fortunately we only had a couple of hours..... CHEAP? I mean!!!!! Anyway. The outshot of that is I still owe her a birthday present.
We had a lot more room on the second leg to Singapore as we were in a bank of three seats and the end one wasn't taken. The way they fed us it was just as well as I needed a little room for expansion. Well! Ive got to get ready for the rigors ahead haven't I! We had a continental breakfast at about 10 and then about 2ish a fantastic lunch. Starting with an aperatife G and T with nibbles followed by smoked fish with cous cous followed by singapore noodles and chicken and a brill salad, Mango mousse and cheese and biscuits. Even that airbus was struggling under the strain. As we ate that we saw Mombai passing beneath us as we traveled relentlessly south east. We watched films and snoozed as time zones did their magic and all of a sudden it was 9:00 p.m. and we were decending into Singapore. We were allowed off the plane for a stretch and found The Cactus Bar!! Alcohol detection system working well then! Then we rushed back to the plane under threats from the cabin staff that they would happily go without us if we were late. Then the last half hour to KL where we landed at about 11. We got a taxi to our hostel but the guy dropped us off in the middle of the street saying its just round that corner, and guess what..... it wasnt! They didnt rekon on my SAS Milkman training though and after a short trek we found our very welcoming home from home the Red Palm Hostel and I paid the 150 ringgits (about 30 quid) for our next three nights acommodation. and after a short chill-out session we retired to bed.
