Mission: Chiang Mai train ticket!
A heavy day tackling Bangkok's hords of people on a mission to get our ticket out to Chiang Mai (north). Having got the ticket, and then told we were unlikerly to get accomodation due to Queen's b'day celebrations we got a taxi boat back...awaesome way to travel! Found accomodation and after the stress/exhaustion of the day sat and watched opening ceremony of the Olympics...all 204 competing countries!!!...really living the high-life here!
Site-seeing!
A whistle-stop tour of Bangkok took us to see the Grand Palace, including various wots and the Emerald Buddah. All completely amazing colour and detail (where the pics don't do it justice!). We then went on to visit Big Buddah...75m of Buddah!!! We thought we'd complete the night on the Khao San road so people-watched from a roof-terrace bar chatting to different peeps. Also, admiring the drunken passed out dude on the pavement below, who, 2hrs later was still there and when the Thai ambulance arrived and on-lookers helped to roll him on to his back...interesting 1st aid! we put him oin the recovery position and slept well that night knowing that he wouldn't choke on his sick...nice!
