Ahhhhh, Tody was the Nasca lines day. Exciting but also the worst thing I have ever done.
We got a bus straight to the airport this morning. It is small and has about half a dozen Cesnas.. all 6 seaters. Catherine and I and 3 others got to go first. Our pilot was called Jose and wore a proper pilots uniform. I got to go in front and be co-pilot, although I was pretty useless in this role!
We took off and the flight lastest 30minutes. To start with the flight was exhilarating and smooth. THere are about 10 pictures that make up the lines spread over a wide area of flat planes. The pilot showed us the first one and pretty much immedialty Anne in the back seat was sick. Jose then spun round and showed us the same one from the left side. I thought I was going to be ok but by the time we´d done this around the next 5 or 6 pictures I was feeling horrific. It was ok when the plane was straight but we were frequently turning. I tried massaging my hands (meant to work!) but ultimatley I was in a state. The lines were fantastic. I saw all of them and took some good pics of the Hummingbird and the Spider. But for most of the time I could not wait until it was over! We had a smooth landing but I was feeling so terrible that when it came to getting out I couldn´t move. My hands and wrists felt paralysed (I have never felt so bad). When I did get out I made for the shade and lay down...then the medics came over to tke my blood pressure. But as soon as I was off the plane I felt so much better. Catherine had here blood pressure taken too and Anne had to lie down for the next hour. It has taken me pretty much all day to recover so in summary i am NEVER going in a small plane again. It wasn´t fear but the twisting and turning that was so awful. But I am glad that I did it. The tour guide, Sandra, said that at least 1 person on each flight is ill.... be warned!
