Yesterday morning I set off on a 2 day trip to the Colca Canyon. It has been remeasured recently and is now officially the deepest canyon the world at 3.5km deep. We set off early in a mini bus and straight away stopped to buy coca leaves. The guide advised us to put about 15 dry leaves in our mouths and chew without swallowing. We arrived in Areqipa at 8am this morning after a 9 hour bus ride from Nazca. The bus was the most comfortable I have ever been on. The seats fully reclined and I had leg room. I managed to sleep all the way (possibly helped by the Peruvian sleeping pill!) and can´t believe it was so pain free! Arequiba is Lima´s second city after Lima.
