This morning, we took a bus to Hanoi. Once we arrived, we walked around Hanoi and Albert showed us around a bit. This city is really busy. Everyone is in a hurry and it is hard to cross the road. The streets are just shop after shop after shop. Each street has a specialty. One street is just for toys, another just sunglasses, another shirts and a different one for jewelry.
We went to a cute bakery for lunch. I had a chicken sandwich and Greek salad. All the vegetables were so fresh and tasty. It was really satisfying. I felt so nourished after. We did some more shopping after lunch and then got ready to go out.
For dinner we went to a local restaurant. The food was great. I had sweet and sour pork.
After dinner we went to the water puppet show. It is like the broadway of Vietnam. Basically, it was a puppet show on the water. It was entertaining, but it was hard to follow the story line.
After the show, we went to a rooftop bar for a drink. We met up with the guys we went scuba diving with in Nha Trang. It is funny how so many people are on the same root and you meet up with them again weeks later.
Next we headed to a street bar for cheap beer. But it turns out drinking on the street is illegal here, so when the police came by it got shut down. Then we were looking for a new place to go, but everything seemed to be shutting down at 12am. There was a huge crowd of about 100 foreigners all walking in the same direction. We decided to follow along and see where they were all headed. After a 10 minute walk and crossing a busy highway, all of the foreigners flooded into a hostel. The downstairs of the hotel was like a club. It was a great time. The bathrooms were horrendous though. The worst I have even seen. While dancing, Joe cut his foot on broken glass. At first it was bleeding like crazy and I was worried, but I think his foot was just swollen because it turned out to only be a small cut. Helen didn't come home with us when we left to go home. I didn't like leaving her. I'm not used to doing that with my friends at home. Thankfully she made it back to the hotel safely.
