Today we woke up at 4am to watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat. That's really early! But it was worth it. Angkor Wat means holy city. It was built 1000 years ago by the king warrior of the son. It was built as a place for hindus to pray.
We also visited two other temples. One was the jungle temple. It has fallen apart because the jungle has taken over. The other temple was pretty, it had lots of Buddha faces. It was a really hot day though so it was hard to retain the information the tour guide was feeding us.
After visiting the temples, we went back to the hotel to have a swim and cool off. Then we went on a tour of the floating market. It was not what I expected. It wasn't really a market more just people who live in houses on the lake. Some vietnamese people moved to Cambodia during the war. But now they cannot return to Vietnam or live on Cambodian soil so they must live on the lake. They have floating houses made of bamboo.
After the river tour we went for dinner where there was a traditional dancing show. It was amazing to see. The dancing is so different from the western world. Very conservative, slow and graceful steps.
After dinner we went for a drink at the "Angkor What? " bar. It ha really good music and everything was glow in the dark. You could get literally buckets of alcohol. The walls are filled with people's names who had been there. We each found a spot on the wall to sign our names.
The bar was not too busy yet because it was early so we went to the night market for a bit. Bought some bracelets and had a fish foot massage. The massage was you put your feet into the water with about 100 fish an they eat the dead skin off your feet. It felt really weird at first but I got used to it.
Around 11 we headed back to the "Angkor what?" and got buck.
