Jo and Al's Trek across the globe!
Our final place in Asia was Singapore! It was pretty cool here, so so clean and very organised! There is no spitting no jay walking and absolutely no chewing gum!! The city is very modern but has lots of different contrasts with areas such as Raffles (very rich) and then the china and India towns.
We arrived here and all checked into the hostel for the last time as a huge group. The first night was a pretty quiet one and we just wandered around the area of \"Little India\" and went to and English pub...how original.
The next day we went to Sentosa Island which is the real touristy place to go in Singapore but its also the only place with a good beach! It was one hell of a mission to get to...we had to walk, then get the underground, catch a very hight cable car and then catch a bus! An hour and a half later and voila! You are then arrive at a very man made looking beach! But any beach will do and it was lovely and sunny!!
That night we all went out as a big group for the last time to the english pub from before...lots of laughs and drinking went on. Before this we went to the raffles hotel where we could have a singapore sling which is a famous cocktail. This was cool. The tradition was also to throw put shells all over the floor of the bar...interesting... Afterwards a few of us decided to go to a club in Orchard Towers...we arrived and it was just full of ladyboys, prostitutes and weird men!!hmmm....but once you got past that the music was real good and we just danced the night away until 5am!
Next day we all checked out and said our goodbyes as we would all be going our separate ways...boooo. Even tho we said bye it yurned out loads of us were staying in Singa anyway which was cool. Jo and I moved to our new hostel and it was an absolute shambles! It was in the middle of nowhere and was like a time warp back to the 60s. We took one look and moved straight out to a hostel that was just a couple of doors down from where the boys were staying in Little India...so all worked out ok!!
The next couple of days were just spent walking arounf taking in all the sights...and there was ALOT of walking! There are shopping malls everywhere! We walked along the river, saw the main theatre and the merlion fountain which protects the city. We also visited the fountain of wealth but not sure how much that helped...
On our last night we just went out with the guys and had a similar night the the previous, me and jo raving away...lots of fun!
The next day we just wandered about again and in the aft caught a flight at 11.30pm...yawn!!! BUt roll on Oz!!
