Paris is just as beatiful as I have always imagined!
Our first night in Paris we spent drinking AMAZING red wine by the sparkling eiffil tower! It was so beautiful
The next day we saw Notre Dame, The Catacombs, Arc De Triumph, and a famous choclate place my friend knew about! The Catacombs were my favirote. There were skelatons EVERYWHERE. It was very moving, and beautiful. Over 3 million people were burried underground here, as a way to store bodies. It was amazing to think that in history this would be acceptable. I loved learning about this, and found it so interesting!
We also went to the Eiffel Tower again during the day--for a great oppurtunity at cheesy tourist photos.
We wanted to have one french meal while we were there, since the clulture is known so much for food, and I tried Creme Brulle--which was AMAZING. However, they were not as good as the crepes on the street!
We met with our friend Nan in France. WE met Nan in the hostel in Amsterdam, shes studying in Paris and was also visiting the Netherlands. It was great to meet someone and keep in touch with them. She is from Virginia and has even heard of UNCG and Elkin!
France was the first place that I really had to learn the language and stop using so much English! This was acctually fun, but also scary and confusing at some places!
We took a night train from Paris to Nice and ended up getting stuck in Nice for hours. This was a blessing actually because Nice is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. We also were taking a night train and got to slleep on couchettes on a train which was such a fun experience! We met a nice older french lady that new enlgish and we stayed up talking with her all night. She told us of adventures she had when she was young, and told us to travel and see the world why we could. At the end of the train ride she even gave us her address and email and told us if we were ever in southern france and wanted a place to stayher and her husband would be happy to have us. It was so wonderful to speak with her, and learn about france and her adventures.
