I spent about 5 days in Greece! Greece has been my favirote part about Europe so far!
I spent 4 days in Santorini, an island 8 hours away from Athens.
In order to get there we had to take an over night ferry from Italy to Athens, then another 8 hour ferry to Santorini.
It was SO WORTH IT.
Santorini Island was the most beautiful thing I have evers seen. It was full of white buildings, and blue tops, amazing sunsets, and cheep greek food.
The beaches had black sand, or red sand and there were volcano rocks everywhere.
We spent the days exploring the small town, and laying on the beach!
We saw the sunset in OIA , which was the tip of the island, and it was amazing. We set ona large rock over looking the entire island and the sunset was so vivid and beautiful I couldnt even believe it!
One amazing thing was the hospitality and community this island had. It taught me so much about culture. The man that was showing us our hostel, picked us up, dropped us off fromthe ferry ports. He made us coffee each morning, and even emailed to say thank you for staying with him. It was so nice, and hospitable!
When we got to Athens we were ready to explore the ancient city. I couldtn believe I was seeing it after hearing about it my entire life. There is so much history!
We also spent one night in Thessolinki which is in the North of Greece, on our way to Bulgaria.
Thessolinki was small, but very nice. I enjyoed walking along the water and seeign the crafts and food that was set up. We had sandwhich called a Slavaouki, which are everywhere. They are very very unhealthy, consisting of pita, french frys, meat and sauce, but i figured....I had to try one if i was in Athens. Also the Greek tea is very very funny. It was tiny tiny cup, but very good!
