Day 6 - dar es sallam
Michael turned up for bed at 1am, and we had to get up to put down the tent at 3.50am. He was surprisingly helpful! Was expecting to have to do it alone but he was fine. Got the tent down and grabbed a couple of rolls to have when we got hungry in a few hours, and headed off on our long travel down to dar es sallam. Michael fell asleep straight away but I was too uncomfy so watched some of the only way is Essex on my iPod. At about 12 we stopped off on a grassy patch to have a quick lunch. We set the seats up under the shade of some trees and some bird in the tree decided my leg was the best toilet spot of the moment. Thankfully it missed my lunch! After another few hours on the bus we stopped for a toilet and some ice cream, which helped to break up the 14 hour journey. We got to dar around 5pm and it was crazy, so busy and hectic. We had to get on a boat to take us across to the camp we would be staying at and it turned out to be even more crazy. There were hundreds of people running to get on the boat while the bus driver was trying to drive the bus on, they were cheering and shouting and everything. We didn't really have a clue what was going on! When the boat finally moved it was a nice five minute ride over, and our first view of the sea! It was sunset time too so it was lovely. Then we got to the campsite for the night. We were getting very sick of camping so the offer of an upgrade to a bungalow for $14 was too tempting and we accepted! We got a lovely little bamboo bungalow for the night with a real bed and pillow! The camp has a pool so after the bus journey we were hot and sticky so got straight in and instantly felt back to normal! The camp site is beautiful. It's on the beach so we can here the sea, it has a pool and a really nice bar area which is covered with bamboo shelter and has fairy lights and candles all over. There are hammocks and a volley ball net in the sand and a pool table in the bar. We wish we bad more than the night to stay!
