My dad, my sister, and I took an overnight flight from Vancouver to Mexico City. We arrived early in the morning and were understandably tired, so suffice to say it wouldn't be our most productive day of sightseeing.
We arrived at the apartment we were renting out during our stay late that morning. Fortunately, the suite was ready for us. My sister had learned Spanish in the past few years, so she was able to communicate with the lady running the place. After settling in, this lady had walked with us down some of the nearby streets and pointed out some popular tourist destinations. We were in the Historic Centre of Mexico City. The streets in the historic centre had more of a European feel to them as opposed to the rest of the city, which was similar to Canadian and American cities. We made our way down Av Francisco I. Madero, a nearby pedestrian street. We ended up grabbing lunch at Cafe de Tacuba, which was nice and I enjoyed some enchiladas. This trip feels like a much more authentic Mexican experience than last time I visited this country considering we're staying in the heart of Mexico City. The last time I visited Mexico, we (I travelled with my sister and dad then too) stayed at a resort in Maya Riviera, which felt a lot like a Canadian exclave.
