Had a great day and a half in Krakow! This morning we went to the salt mines. The picture is of me standing next to one of the carvings done in salt. The mines contained something like 300km of underground tracks and they say if you placed the Eiffel Tower at the bottom, there would still be 3m between the top of the tower and the surface. We went more than 100 metres bellow the surface. They even hold concerts and weddings down there! Does anyone know the acoustic properties of salt?
After that a small group of us went into town to see the Jewish quarter where we had a very nice lunch and then we explored the Christmas markets and some other stores. I bought a few nice things for the girls in my family that I'm sure they will enjoy :)
The architecture is amazing everywhere I have been so far. Krakow was no exception and I'm sure Prague won't be either. The only downside has been the weather going from nippy to freezing and no snow yet other than what we drove through in Slovakia. Tomorrow morning we get up bright and early to visit auschwitz before heading to Prague for the last leg of the group tour.
Hoping this blog is worth a read for everyone back at home. If anyone has any questions or wants different kinds of details let me know. I like hearing about what is happening at home so if anyone feels like sending me an e-mail/Facebook message go right ahead :)

Lindy Church I love the carving of the donkey! The history is fascinating, waiting for a thunderstorm here, it is very dry.
