I'm in Budapest! Flew in two days ago and met up with topdeck tour yesterday. Amazing city. Too many buildings worth taking photos of. The one here is me infront of parliament.
I didn't have to meet with tour until afternoon so I did a walking tour in the morning. We walked around Pest and across the chain bridge that leads over the Danube into Buda. Crazy architecture!
Hungary has interesting history due to it being occupied by several different powers for varying periods. It was established in 896! (Australia is so young!) During world war 2 they were occupied by Germany and when the soviets came and liberated them they decided not to leave, so Hungary remained a communist nation until 1990. They still keep a few of the nicer statues.
We went out to dinner last night for tradition Hungarian. Hungarian food is most often meat based and very heavy. I'm not sure anyone finished their dishes! Then we went to check out the Jewish quarter and one of the top rating bars in the world!
Today is a free day to explore and tomorrow we head to Poland!
Hope everyone at home is enjoying the heat ;) starting to get a bit nippy here.
