It's the morning of day 3 of my paddy wagon tour around Ireland. I'm in Killarney this morning after travelling to Galway yesterday. On the first day we travelled west from Dublin across the country.
The weather has been what you might expect from winter in Ireland: wet and windy. Yesterday it was almost too severe for he Cliffs of Moher to be open but they were opened just in time for us to see them so we were very lucky. Unfortunately we lost two people from our tour at the cliffs... They only did 2 day tour so returned to Dublin ;) but it was definitely the worst wind I have ever encountered. The type that you really have to lean against to be able to keep moving straight. It was worth it to see the cliffs.
Beside the weather it has been a great trip so far. A really nice group of people on tour and the Irish hospitality has been great. We have seen some beautiful scenery, castles, and a bit of good Celtic music in the pubs. The country side is beautiful. I'm learning a lot about Ireland's history from the tour guide as he points out when and why the rock walls and castles were built and the geology behind the way the coastline and mountains are formed. I won't bore you with the details but it is worth looking up!
Today we head to the far south western edge and then tomorrow we make our way back to Dublin.
