Sun 24th
Arrival from Kauntan off at TBS bus station, where we bought our onward tickets to the Cameron Highlands despite the efforts of a woman (who'd made a nuisance of herself on the bus earlier) trying to push in. Frank was having none of it.
On to the train, then off, and into Mingle hostel to check in where we met a chap called Will (from Syria) who had been living in KL for the last 7 years with his wife. He told us he likes to vaccation at the hostel every year, they love it so much. Next, straight to Arabesque express for a late lunch. We were greeted warmly by the familiar waiter. Absolutly wonderful. The pavements were now finished - much easier to walk on and gave the road a much more appealing factor. Emy and Athira were not able to join us this time as their baby was due - fair do's of course.
We trotted off to Central Market for some magnets and bracelets for ourselves. We grabbed some buns from Oyno (!?!?) Back to the hostel to freshen up and wait for May and Jessica to arrive. The day earlier we had said we'd be in KL and, if they could, meeting up with them again would be smashing - Lily was in Thailand at the time. At 6pm the girls arrived and we updated them on our stories and they theirs. We chatted laughed and drank, (Frank recited Shakespeare to them at one stage!) until midnight when they had to go. They had work in the morning after all and we had a bus to catch. After saying goodbye and seeing them off again we had one more drink before we hit the hay. It was about this time that Will and his wife Daria, along with another guy Sam (from Yemen) and his girlfriend joined us. We spoke about languages and the two of them joked that they could understand each others Arabic, despite having different dialects and pronunciations. We kept having another 'one for the road' (bloody long road!) before we went to bed at 4am!
