Bus journey 5RM (50p) for a trip of 31km. In other words the best value bus ride EVER!
Left at 10:13am arrived at 12:50pm! So much traffic on the causeway. This was the same day Trump and Kim Jong-Un were at their summit. So the fuss was not for us. Pity. Had coffee and a light lunch in Muugu Fork (over half a day's budget!) and then walked to The Gardens by the Bay where there is a beautiful garden park with artifical/environmental trees - super trees. The whole thing reminded us of The Eden Project in Cornwall, it was a spectacular garden with wonderful flora and fauna, fountains and education boards, (we said we would go back there for a picnic). Lovely warm day, cloudy but bright. Singapore is much more expensive than Malaysia - more like London prices but as we're not staying overnight we're under less pressure financially. On the bus back we observed there is a big effort to keep the city state as green as possible. Small clusters of jungle like countryside peak up between major roads. Shrubs, hedges and trees of all tropical sorts line the roads and pavements. The grey concrete, steel and glass buildings are secondary to the lush green vegetation all around. As though nature is claiming back the land. It makes for a much more enjoyable city day out. It's how every city should look. Mixed together with the natural surroundings as opposed to clearing it out entirely.
Back to Double K for a chill in our bright orange coloured, windowless room and to shower before dinner. Frank's shower was "the worst shower in Asia. Useless." The pressure wouldn't work. We were not overly fond of this hostel, needless to say.
