What a sleep! At last. On the hostel's blurb it says it has "The comfiest beds in China." They do indeed! The air conditioning may not have worked, but with the softer matresses and pillows and the fact there were 3 of us in the dorm (less snoring!) a good sleep was had. It did wonders for the congestion and headache that still clung to me from Beijing.
Coffee then breakfast in the park. A nice start to the day watching people play with their children. 'Indiana Wong: The Second' was there too, 'Whipping The Top'. Sounds saucier than it is.
Our entertainment for the day was to walk along the Xi'an city wall. It's a Ming Wall, square shaped with North, East, South and West gates to it. You can cycle or walk, it took us three and a half hours walking in scorching 33°c heat (real feel 36°c). The last 1.5km became a struggle, sweat was streaming down our backs and dripping off of our faces. Every toilet block we passed we doused ourselves at the sink just to cool off. Cold drink and an ice lolly later (of course) we shuffled along Ancient Street. It's full of art materials and antiques mainly.
While walking, I felt that my right side tooth and gum were unusally sensitive and swollen. So maybe I have a tooth infection and not just a cold? Did one come about with the other? Trying not to worry if it would be serious (hoping it wasn't an abscess) I resolved to use more mouth wash each day. As soon as we were back I rinsed my mouth out and flossed. Just need to mind it now.
For dinner we got Biang Biang Noodles from a place of the same name. Big broad spicy noodles, with beef and vegetables, served in a huge bowl. All for ¥18 (£2 each).
Back to Hang Tang House, showered and chilled in the bar with a Mango ice drink to bring the tempreature down and calm the tingling on my lips from the noodles!
Beers to finish, of course.
