Awoke at about 8am after a good nights sleep ready for a day of action at the water park etc. However no day starts without breakfast. As expected of a 5* hotel breakfast resembled a Global Buffet. Too much to describe in a blog but needless to say we all stuffed ourselves. Next stop was the Wild Wadi Water Park. We were too late to get a seat on the courtesy mini bus the hotel runs, so had a taxi hailed for us by the concierge for the 20 minute ride. Taxi's are reasonably cheap - this was only about £10 and door to door.
The water park lived up to expectation. Not the biggest we've been to but some of the rides are well worth the experience. This was free for us as the water park is part of the Jumierah Hotel group where we are staying. After a few hours at the water park we took a taxi to the biggest Mall in the world - The Dubai Mall. It didn't disappoint, you would really need at least 3 days shopping there to do it justice. Even the ride through the down town area is worth it to view the huge towering buildings which are even more inspiring when lit up at night, especially the Burj Khalifa Tower.
We availed ourselves of lunch in the food court which is a city of good quality fast food outlets covering every country you can think of with their traditional dishes at reasonable prices.
Finally as it got dark we ventured outside to the Khalifa Lake to watch the Fountain show and take in the Khalifa Tower light show. Spectacular!!!!
After fighting our way back into the Mall with thousands of other viewers we took a taxi to a restaurant that I had seen on Trip Advisor. I had to guide the taxi driver there using my mobile phone map as it was off the beaten track in a little back street in the middle of nowhere. We were not disappointed. The Dubai Fish Hut resembling a small side street cafe was a friendly and unique experience. You choose your fish dishes from a counter resembling a fishmonger stall, you are guided and helped by knowledgable and friendly staff on quantity and how it is best cooked etc. We had the biggest Tiger prawns you have ever seen, shrimps the size of scampi, Squid (calamari) and for main course we shared a huge whole Hummour, a local fish all beautifully cooked and accompanied with salad and Fish Soup. All for about £20 a head including fantastic fruit milkshakes. Bellys full and satisfied it was back to hotel to sleep.
