Hey,
As most of you will probably know by now, im flying home tommorow! After having a total nightmare with virgin atlantic iv bought a new ticket home.
I stayed in Phi Phi for 6 days, mostly just chilled out on the beach during the day going to beach partys at night. Tom and i attempted to walk to the 'lookout' but went the wrong way despite following the signs and ended up in the middle of nowhere. We did however find some amazing beaches and turns out we werent that far from where we'd started, luckily its a pretty small island! A few days later we found the lookout and hiked all the way to the top, i was totally drenched in sweat by the time i got there, and bright red (much to Tom's amusement) but it was worth it as you could see all across the island and over to some of the other islands too.
After just 2 days of trecking it up to our hut in the hills, we moved into town and treated ourselves to air con, there were no monkeys here but the room was way better and right in the middle of town.
We went on a boat trip around the island; sunbathed on the beach where 'The Beach' was filmed, did some snorkelling, went kayaking, and watched the sunset on the ride home, it was dead nice.
Its a really chilled out place so not much else to report really; played fire limbo one night but i was out befor it got to the part where you won free drinks; i got hit in the eye by a passing (full) can of beer (OWCH!!!!) and therefore had a black eye for a few days, luckily it was sunny so wore my sunglasses most of the time, wasnt that bad though, the bruise has gone now, although still cant rub my one eye, finding it funny now!
Tom left the day befor me, hes gone to Laos, luckily that morning id bumped into Leanne, Chris and Viv, who id stayed with in Koh Tao, so i moved in with them for the night. The next morning we got woken upby amassive thunder storm, the floor of our room actually shook at one point,we all had to check out and it was still pouring down, so now all my clothes are totally soaked and currently drying on the floor of my room (should have bought a waterproof cover for my bag!)
I left yesterday afternoon and arrived in Bangkok at 5:30 this morning, totally shattered, id not been able to sleep a wink despite having 2 seats to myself all the way here (maybe it was the black eye put people off as the bus was well busy...haha) I went to look at a room that was 150 baht (3quid ish) and it was definately only worth that, desided not to stay there as i looked like theyd just shoved a bed in a cupboard. Found a nice place to stay for the night now. It seems the storm has followed me here so im spending the day doing some last minute shopping and catching up on sleep.
Cant wait to see you all,
lots of love,
Karen
