Hello from Austria........
We depart Lake Bled and make our way to the home of the Sound Of Music... Austria... We arrive in the late afternoon get our rooms and the beds are the most comfortable of the trip... we have some down time where I just laid for a couple hours and enjoyed rest.
Tonight's dinner is a bbq with salads and pork sausages and steaks... we load up on the bbq goodness and then the drinking games begin... Blondie aka Fleetwood Mac aka Nikki and Steve have all these drinking games that they have made up with their friends... you have to guess if your card is higher or lower than the one that has been put on the d*** before yours if you get it wrong you have to skull for as many seconds as the amount of people that have got it right... if a joker get put on the deck you have to clap and the last to clap has to skull if you put the same number card as the one previously placed on the deck you have to snap the deck and the hand on top has to skull, if 3 of the same card end up on the deck together you have to pile your fists up and the fist on top has to skull... this kept us amused for a few hours and many drinks.. In all the excitement of slapping the deck a few drinks were spilt, I hit shifty in the side of the head and ended up with a cut on my elbow... things got a little crazy.
After the drinking games wound down a few people went out and I went up to the room and chatted with elley and shifty til about 1... Then we called it a night.
Woke up around 11 and went into the town to find some food as we slept through breakfast. We got a bag of croissants, butter and jam and had it back in our room... it hit 1pm and we headed off to go canyonning... no one was really sure what we got ourselves into until we had the orientation... so we were to absail down a 25 metre waterfall, slide through rapids then climb over rocks following another 15m abseil down a waterfall, then we were to jump off a rock ledge into freezing cold alpine water all before climbing our way out of a gorge... if this wasn't enough we then would move to another location where there was a 10 metre waterfall that we jumped off into the freezing water below... sounds insane to me.. However was amazing... we had 15mm of wetsuit on, the water was still really bloody cold and when our heads went under it was like the worst ice-cream headache in the world but it was the bestest fun ever...!!!! We called ourselves the Aqua Rangers as we had so much wetsuit on we were spring loaded... this caused us to do kung-fu moves and poses for most photos...
After a much needed hot chocolate we headed back to the accommodation where we got ready for our alpine mountainside traditional dinner... this was taking place after our group photo... for the group photo everyone wore their underwear on the outside of their pants... this had something to do with the bus driver Phil although I am not entirely sure what the back story is as it happened before we got on the tour.. We participated anyway as we found it amusing... We had our group photo with Valerie (the bus) in the background and then set off for our dinner.
Dinner was set in a place that sat amongst the mountains in the Alps... the location was amazing... a little random and secluded but amazing... Dinner was delicious... it was a 3 course meal with a pancake soup, your choice of traditional main and apple strudel for dessert.. My main was something I can't pronounce but it was amazing it was chat potato, bacon, egg and pork all mixed in a fry pan and served... yum yum yum... after dinner we headed back to the accom via a traditional bar that served a local shot that you set on fire.. I was sick so I didn't have one but a few of the girls did 5 and got a certificate... we later found out that a couple of them didn't keep the shots down to long haha.
We got back to our accommodation and I got myself a hot lemon water for my cold and headed off to sleep... tomorrow we head to Prague... and a concentration camp.
