I'll start with Monday since that is where I left off.
Monday morning as my philosophy class was ending, Brian (just some guy in my class) turned around and asked my how my weekend was. I told him it was uneventful and asked him how his was. He told me he went home Saturday and went to church on Sunday. I said, "I went to church too".
This started a conversation which lasted 2 hours about church and church activities. He wants to be a minister and he was attending a church in South London close to his home but he wasn't feeling close to God. So he started attending a church called Hill Song in Central London. He says it's amazing. It has a great worship band and media presentations during the service and people seem really happy and excited to be there. Apparently people are pretty involved with the church and everyday of the week there is something to do. Thursday (today) are connect groups which are kind of like Bible study/book clubs where people meet in their area and discuss Christianity. I was invited but had to decline after realizing how early I have to get up tomorrow morning to leave for Edinburgh. But I was just really excited to have met someone in my Existentialism class OF ALL PLACES who would point me in the direction of another church that has a great community.
I think I will still attend the American Church of London because I love love love it! But I can go to both churches because Hill Song had 3 services and one of them is in the evening.
Tuesday night I saw Macbeth with Patrick Steward. He was okay. The show sucked. I love Macbeth but there was no chemistry between him and Lady Macbeth and it was just awkward. Plus it was set in the 1940's and it was just weird. I didn't like it...I was hoping it would end. But now I can say I saw Patrick Steward.
Wednesday, yesterday, was Halloween as you know. I wanted to dress up but I didn't know what to be. Finally I decided on the easiest costume I thought I could put together and bought a bunch of red and some horns and I was a devil. My friends and I dressed up and went out to a club call Mahiki (apparently the princes like to frequent it). Before going out we decided to try Absinthe. Absinthe is illegal in the US thus the basis of it's appeal. DON'T WORRY, I WAS SAFE. It's supposed to make you hallucinate...but I didn't and I'm too afraid to drink much more than I did to find out. But hey, now I can say I've tried Absinthe! It was fun and exciting.
Today, Tina and I went to see the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. It was quite an ordeal and there were a million people standing area...it was hard to see but still a cool experience.
Later on I think I'm going to watch a movie and then pack for my trip to Edinburgh. I'm excited!
