TK: we had a free morning to do some sightseeing in Vientiane before catching our flight to Hanoi. I also had my first western meal since we started the holiday, a BLT sandwich. It was damn tasty, but I'm definitely not missing Western food yet! We arrived in Hanoi, met the new guide, got a coach to the hotel, checked in and went out for dinner. It was a twenty minute walk through the old town. We live in London and have been to some mad big cities in our time, but nothing like Hanoi, it is an assault on the senses, scooters all around, street vendors, cafes, crazy buildings, mad things everywhere you look. It sets the pulse racing and makes you feel alive. Crossing the road is like Moses parting the sea, you walk out in front of the vehicles and they just swarm around you. We had a delicious meal albeit a set menu in a restaurant full of tourists, but the bill came to £6 each including drinks so you can't say fairer than that
