After what seemed like a long time on the road we were glad to get to Byron Bay where we would spend the next 5 days. The first couple of days we spent relaxing on the beach and wandering around the town. We drove to the airport to pick Rose up; a friend we've met in Sydney, through Ed. We were very excited to have someone else with us for a few days, but not quite as excited as a lady at the airport who was obviously waiting for her boyfriend to arrive (look at the photos!). It was hilarious watching her as the plane landed!!
Unfortunately, as soon as Rose arrived the weather seemed to take a turn for the worse and we spent the rest of the week dodging the rain. We did a day trip to Nimbin, the hippy capital of Australia. It was a cute little place, everyone was very friendly, they even offered us cookies ;-)
We arranged our trip to Fraser Island for a couple of weeks time, hoping the weather will be kinder to us then! We had a couple of nights out while we were in Byron which were OK. Seemed like a nice little town but think we'd have enjoyed it more if it hadn't been torrential rain! Think we're in for a bit more rain, apparently it's the end of the cyclone that is heading down the east coast.
