So I now need to update you all on the last week we've been in Haad Rin, well we got there on Saturday (16th) and since then we've practically just spent every day on the beach reading, listening to music, swimming and just basically chilling and being very lazy!! It was overcast a few days but still hot and so that didnt really make any difference. In the evenings as we're not being party animals we've just been going out for dinner and watching films shown in the bars (seen shrek 3, goal 2, hot fuzz, blades of glory, oceans 13, and lots of episodes of friends) and then having a few beers and maybe a crepe!! really living life on the edge! lol
We've both bought ourselves a pair of 'crocs' as they're quite comfy to wear as a change from flip flops, mine are orange and Vics are lilac so you can see us coming!
We found out that there was a Thai Boxing match going on at the Thong Sala stadium on the 21st so we decided to go and so we managed to get a free lift down there from the promoter guy and then we got ringside seats in the 'stadium' (a word that should be only roughly applied here). The first match was a couple of kids that looked no older than about 9, but it soon progressed onto adults who were suceeding in knocking one another out - 1 guy stayed knocked out for ages and they couldnt bring him round till they'd carried him out of the ring. Its a very violent sport and we werent really getting the actual rules but just cheering along anyway. We got chatting to a couple of guys there who were going to a big pool party near where we were staying to once the boxing had finished (about 12.30am) so we shared a cab with them and went along, but we only stayed and had 1 bucket as we weren't dressed for the pool and we were knackered.
The last couple of days in Haad Rin have been cloudy and rainy so havent been able to go to the beach so have been quite bored as theres little to do in the day other than sit in a bar and watch TV/films or play scrabble in our room or read in the room, all of which we've been doing.
It's a pity we couldnt stay in haad rin for the full moon party but I suppose we're not that bothered as i dont think it would really be our thing anyway, we could have gone to the half moon party which happens in the jungle but glad we didnt as we've heard from people since that it wasnt all that good, and its supposed to be a mozzie-fest and me and Vic do not need anymore bites, we're already scratching ourselves to pieces - nice!
Anyway we booked our journey back up to Bangkok and so yesterday we left Haad Rin at 12pm to get the boat to the mainland again and then we had to wait around in the tourist agencies office till we could get on the bus back to Bangkok which we eventually getting on at 8pm, as we were the last ones on it (with another couple) we ended up with the back seats (next to the fire exit door) and they squeaked really badly and rocked up and down - i mean seriously we were bouncing up and down, so in the end we got on the back row which was also free but the driving was still so bouncy we didnt manage to get any sleep but we arrived in Bangkok an hour early even though we'd set off late which shows how fast he must have been driving. We got here to Bangkok at 5am this morning and so came to our hotel which we'd booked in but we had to wait till a room became available and was cleaned before we could check in which was at 8am, not bad i spose considering check in time is supposed to be 1pm.
So as soon as we got in the room we went to sleep and then got up at 12pm and have been wandering around bangkok this afternoon, as ive decided theres a few things i want to buy as its so cheap so im gonna send them in a parcel home - they'll probably only get there when i do as I'll send it overland which is the cheapest although it take about 3 months. So fun shopping and bartering for me to do before we leave on Wednesday.
Will try to put up more photos before we leave thailand, love to you all xxx
