Went for a ride around the camp and ran into Mark & Joe who we met in Paradise Beach- they are also on a trip around Australia and have been traveling from Perth with their 3 kids- already 5 months into their trip!
The campsites are beautiful and secluded with bats, goannas, snakes and other wildlife wandering around through the sites. Still looking for a wombat...
Went for a bike ride this morning, followed by a swim in the beach. Freezing cold but did manage a small bit of body surfing!
Went on a 4km hike along the coast line to East Cape where Mel hopped into the water to look for abalone (very popular in this area, but no luck...)
This area is known to have great snorkeling & diving, saw lots of starfish and crabs on the jagged rocks (called sailors graveyard).
Had a female Goanna in our camp this afternoon, apparently they follow the same route each time!
It went up the tree next to the van then realized we were harmless and came down. Wandered off under the van- would be interested to try roasted Goanna...think I have a bit of Aborigine in me!
Highlight today: Swimming in the beach and seeing a stack of starfish on the rocks!
