So Byron Bay, we stayed in a place called the Arts Factory, it was pretty cool and did stuff like free drum lessons and didgeridoo lessons and it had a pool and stuff. There were loads of massive lizards wandering around the place as well and I dont mean gekkos they were proper masive lizards, kinda looked like iguanas but I don't know if they were actual iguanas. Also these turkey things were wandering about the place, who knows why?? Just by chance me and Emma were in the same "room" for the 4 nights we were there. I say "room" because it was a glorified large tent called the waggon.. like the top half of a waggon like waggon wheels waggon. And when it later got super rainy and windy and then it was really cold in there at night and I got a really sore throat! It was horrible! But anyway at Arts Factory we were reunited with Tine for 3 days! But because of the weather and I wasn't well there wasn't really a lot we could do, but we went to a market selling random things like bread boards and healing crystals and tie dyed t-shirts and there was a really nice bikini stall but they were all like $65 each! and they nice but weren't THAT nice! On the more rainy day, we managed to get cheap cinema tickets through our hostel to see Due Date, it wasn't that great i thought, but it was nice to get some popcorn and watch a film! Also through the hostel we got a free bushwalk with a guy who calls himself Cockatoo Paul (I think because he carries around this evil cockatoo that bites him a lot?? But anyway it was really interesting and he shows you which plants you could eat, which are poisonous or antiseptic, good for sunburn.. stuff like that. There was even this greeny ant which you can eat and apparently tastes citrusy.. but I wouldn't know! The only other thing we did really was on the sunny day we went for quite a long walk to the most eastern point in australia and this really old lighthouse, we didn't go inside but the views from the top were fab. I think poor Tine was getting frustrated at my lack of speed and my need of frequent breaks! But in my defence it was hot and I am spectacularly unfit.. still! I really thought lugging 20kg around Asia and Australia would have helped that but perhaps crisps and chocolate have counteracted any good I have done! Byron Bay was also the place when we started to hear more about the flooding in Queensland, at that point only Rockhampton was closed, still a couple of weeks away for me and Emma, at this point we had no idea how bad the flooding was going to get!
