I know there's a massive gap since I last wrote in this blog but never mind, I'll start again from now! So I guess I'll begin with my long long journey back to Australia, which was actually not uncomfortable thanks to me getting a row of seats to myself for both legs of the journey! Hurray! Being able to stretch out really makes all the difference! And I managed to watch loads of films.. good stuff! Then once I reached Dubai airport was when it began to get interesting.. I had 10 hours between flights in Dubai and it was all overnight so it wasn't even like I could go anywhere. So after a lot of walking around and several ice creams later at about 4am I was sat in an empty Costa, just reading my book and trying to kill some time... when 4 men and 1 woman come over and sit at my table. They didn't say anything just sat down and started talking between themselves, every so often I thought they were gestering at me but then I guess I assumed that it was late, I was tired and being paranoid. That was until, they bought me a muffin.. and some green tea. I still don't really know why because they hadn't spoken to me they just pushed this stuff over to me and were like "madam this is for you".. but when I said no thanks they got offended.. so I ate the muffin.. so then they wanted to buy cake and paninis and all sorts but they ate most of that themselves. Then they started to talk to me but it wasn't really a conversation they were just asking me questions like do you have a father or brothers? How old are you? Are you married or single? Where are you going? Are you travelling alone? Stuff like that and I was starting to feel even more awkward when they were asking what I knew about Afghanistan and had I been to visit?? What a stupid question!! Anyway after question time they went to catch their flight to Kabul and I still had 5 more hours.. but I wasn't sorry to see them go! It was just a weird time! Luckily the rest of my time in Dubai was a lot more uneventful and I managed to snooze a bit after my disappointment in realising that neither mcdonalds or burger king did breakfast menus in Dubai! Gutted! Then hours later I arrived back in Melbourne to not particularly great weather and I arrived at my hostel at about 10am.. I was so so tired having not slept properly in like 35 hours or so and was so happy to arrive at my hostel where I fully intended on dozing for a while but they wouldn't let me check in til 2pm!! I did try to get them to let me in early but they said because of the grand prix they had a lot of late checkouts so there was no way. So off I went to have a look around.. I actually ended up sleeping for an hour on some grass near the river but it was so nice in the sun! Luckily my handbag was still there when I woke up! And after dumping my stuff in my room I went to take some pictures of the sunset with my new camera, and I ended up staying out til about 9ish when I was practically dead on my feet and headed back to the hostel.
Then Tuesday came! Time for the Neighbours tour!! Woo!! You've gotta love a good bit of Neighbours. Although the tour was a bit of a let down, I wanted to see the harolds cafe and charlies bar etc but thats apparently only available on the weekend tour and is extra. Boooo! But at least there was still Ramsey Street to look at and I saw the garage and got to meet.. Ringo!! Hes pretty but a bit skinny I thought, still I got his autograph! So it was still a good morning even though I think maybe it was a bit overpriced really for what you got! Then the afternoon was pretty much spent on the free tram around the city, doing a bit of shopping and then I sat in the botanical gardens for a while just soaking up the sun and reading some of my book then it was time to pack because tomorrow I'm off to Hobart, Tasmania!!
