hello from Shanghai,
As has often been the case so far this trip we do not have much time to update the site but will do our best once in OZ.
Shanghai is very different from everywhere else it is by far the most modern area we have visited. It is dominated by huge skyscrappers with tacky blackpool lights. The first thing that you notice is the huge numbers of people. On Sunday in particular it was like Christmas in Bluewater with M&S doing a half price sale times by 100!!! Just moving around is a mission. Another annoying element is the number of hawkers we have been offered hundreds of watches and DVDs.
There are some nice areas with very traditional buildings which were nice to see. However, again it is full of hawkers which detracts from the area.
Last night we had a group dinner to say farewell. We then went to a Karaoke room. It was fair to say that Jen was in her element. Her and Kelly did most of the songs although Frasier and I performed an outstanding rendition of Ricky Martin (we are now latin love gods). I also performed with Matt ABC however it turned out not to be the Jackson 5 but just the actual alphabet. At least everyone knew the words. Jen said this would be a wicked night out for the Meridian girls and needs to find one in the area.
Anyway our transfer to the airport is in an hour before our long flight to Sydney. We can not wait to get there.
Hope everyone is well.
P.S. Emma - I have found a small bunny for Bruce to exchange with I will send him in the post
